  Certain as hand drawn in yellow paint on the main case, this is remainder of a T86-1A main-case Transmission with a T86-1C over-drive case (broken see pictures) 1936 Chrysler OverDrive Transmission.    Yellow paint labeled says for AirStream but appears would apply to any 1936 Chrysler using OverDrive (O/D) Transmission.  Also may apply to 1934 or 1935 and may apply to DeSOTO or possibly other MOPAR.  We have experience with 1937-38 Chrysler O/D transmissions and this is not correct.  We have 1935 Chrysler original Parts Manual(P/M) and 1936-1942 Chrysler Multi-Year Parts Manual (P/M).  The 1935 Chrysler P/M shows OverDrive Transmissions but it is unclear whether there are similarities with this 1936 Chrysler Transmission. The 1936-42 Chrysler Multi-Year P/M shows that the OverDrive Transmissions were already being obsoleted without many O/D replacement Parts Numbers being listed.  Perhaps a true 1936 Chrysler Parts Manual would be more conclusive.  
  This item listing includes a good main transmission case with the overdrive case which has a small piece broken out (pictures).  If I needed a good O/D case, then I know we could weld and grind this small break in the case to make it reusable again.  Please UNDERSTAND that this is listing for the basic good condition main case, most of a full set of good condition main components in the main gearbox and that most of the OverDrive until is MISSING the O/D guts.  This is only good for the parts as described, usable mostly to anyone intent to rebuild another like this one but perhaps with a broken case or worn out internal transmission main parts or even replacement O/D Case for one that has been shattered.  Of course it also has the in and out drive splines which may be of character only to these transmissions.  
  NOTE: that this transmission was drained of fluid long ago.  Inside it is still rather dirty with at least some light surface rust throughout.  It is quite evident that from the front input shaft thru the rear transmission shaft into the OverDrive unit, that it appears those thru components are in serviceable condition but would require clean-up.  
  From any Parts List we have studied, it appears that many of this main transmission's internal components are likely to interchange with other MOPAR Transmissions, even those that did not include an OverDrive unit.
