Make sure to check out all of my auctions after you've looked at this one.  I'm listing an eclectic assortment of radio- and phonograph-related antiques, and I suspect that there will be at least something of interest to almost everyone.

Here's a 1925 Amplion Patrician loudspeaker, among the most collectible radio speakers ever made.  This example is being offered for parts or restoration, as the original horn and driver have been replaced with a cone and armature assembly (which works great, by the way, but in a manner quite unlike what the Patrician's factory engineers had intended).  I suppose that back in the late 1920's this modification must have seemed like a brilliant idea to someone.  Oh, well.

Fortunately, the loudspeaker itself was left alone and is beautiful.  The cabinet condition is excellent (both base and housing), and the finish is original (as is the Amplion decal on the underside of the base).   A few spots of paint spatter on one side of the base, and some minor marks on the sides consistent with the cabinet's age and authenticity, but overall it's in fine shape.  All of the carved lattice-work is intact, with no cracks or other damage, and the veneer on the top of the housing is still tightly adhered.

If you're content to let the housing remain in place over the cone (in other words, displaying the speaker as it was intended to be displayed), then you'd likely never know that anything was amiss.  If you have a Patrician with a damaged or otherwise deficient cabinet, then you'll be good to go by simply fitting your horn and driver into this one.  If you don't possess a Patrician right now, and you insist on maintaining the original horn technology, I can send you photographs of the composition horn that was used in this speaker, and you can fabricate a duplicate with mache or whatever is handy.  The cone and mounting board can be removed easily removed from the cabinet, leaving virtually no evidence of their having ever been there --  just a few small screw holes where the brackets mount to the base.

The speaker measures approximately 18" wide by 10" deep by 12" high.  Shipping weight, properly packed, will be approximately 15 lb.

Rest assured the speaker will arrive at your home in the same fine condition in which it leaves mine. I have been shipping antique phonographs and radios for years, and if you check my feedback, you'll see that I know how to do it correctly.   Buyer prepays and includes shipping. If you're bidding from overseas, please contact me in advance for a shipping quote. Overseas bidders are welcome, but I cannot understate the value of the package for customs purposes or declare that it is a gift, which it obviously is not.
