* These boots are for sale in our retail store. They are probably still available for you to purchase on ebay right now. But if it's crucial you get them asap, call and buy them.  My contact info is below.

We are an authorized dealer and specialty ski touring AT/Telemark and snowboard store in our 19th year. Thanks for supporting the passionate locals of Lake Tahoe at The Back Country! We are not your big box store, or a secret basement internet-only shop. We are a real brick and mortar retailer with a very busy service department and all the services you expect at a professional backcountry gear store. We specialize in Backcountry Skiing, Rock Climbing, and Mountain Biking. Our partners ASI provide in-house mountain guiding and avy courses in our shop every weekend, and we have an elaborate ski touring guidebook for free on our website!

Garmont Prophet NTN telemark boots are a free-heel skier's dream. They feature a smooth forward flex, alpine-like torsional rigidity and a round toe for easy walking.

  • Power Wrap anatomic shells are constructed around the shape of the foot and have been prepunched to accommodate common irregularities of skiers' feet
  • 100% Pebax® plastic construction provides high stiffness and power without a lot of weight; Pebax plastic maintains a consistent flex in all temperatures
  • NTN boots do away with the duckbill traditionally found on telemark boots, making walking and scrambling easy; boots are compatible only with NTN bindings (sold separately)
  • Lace-up custom-moldable liners feature 4 different foam thicknesses and densities throughout to provide the best possible comfort and support
  • Strobel-stitch design in the liners allows feet to sit flat for good anchoring within the liners; design also maximizes forefoot width
  • T-Bar Pebax® tongue reinforcement on the liners enhances shin protection and helps you power forward into turns; pull loops on the front and rear ease entry and exit
  • 3 Wide-Open buckles and catches on each boot close easily and securely; buckles swing completely open for unrestricted touring while still being held in place by the catches
  • Wide rip-and-stick power straps wrap securely around the outside of the cuffs, distributing pressure and bringing the cuffs as close as possible to your lower legs
  • Rear walk/ski mechanisms are simple and secure; flip the levers to the ski position for a locked-down forward lean position at 25°
  • Replaceable, high-density nylon bellows protectors guard against sharp ski edges
  • Garmont Prophet NTN telemark boot soles feature replaceable NTN binding interfaces, something only offered by Garmont

First of all, buying boots on the internet is crazy. Don't do it. UNLESS...you have already figured out that THIS BOOT FITS YOU WELL! If you live nowhere near a real backcountry shop like ours, we highly suggest you simply book a flight to Reno, NV and come visit us! Go skiing even! Our store is within 10 miles of Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, AND Sugar Bowl Ski Areas! Plus amazing backcountry ski tours we can send you on. The Reno/Tahoe International Airport is a small, inexpensive airport 45 minutes from our store. Another way buying these boots makes sense is if you REALLY know your mondo size well, and have worn a similar model from the same brand. Of course you can always just wing it and buy these boots intending to return them. You must do so within 7 days for a refund. And when you try them on, call me and we'll talk about how they fit so we don't miss a real problem... or a real winner either. I know the right questions to ask you, I fit AT and Tele boots all day long at work. Call me directly on my cell phone 530-362-0020.

The hardest thing to fix in a ski boot is loose, sloppy ankle and heels. Most ski shops can work with the liner and even the shell to achieve more toe room, width, or just relieve pressure points.  These boot fitters will also look at you like you're crazy for buying a boot untested on the internet, so prepare to shake off a little attitude and even some talk like "well this is the wrong boot for you....". Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. You can only know by trying on at least 5 other boots in the same desired category. Finally, please don't think generalizations like "I'm a scarpa fit, or Garmont never works for me". These molds change every few years as do the liners. Boot companies don't have the exact same fit among their various models either.  Manufacturers usually have a few models, for a few years, that are the same LAST, or lower shell mold. If that worked for you before, it probably will again after a good liner molding and correct shell size choice. Again I will help you figure it out by phone when you have the boots in your hands.

Finally, our new retail boots do not come with the exact original box. We leave them out so a few people have tried them on. This helps break them in a little. They have never left the store or been molded. The stock footbeds are usually so bad that we throw them away. Our store customers try them on with a simple, inexpensive improved footbed from Superfeet or Sole, or their own custom footbed. We will try to ship your ebay purchased boots with the original stock footbeds supplied by the manufacturer, but you might get a different label footbed. Either way, trust me none of them are worth skiing with. The footbed also helps give you (or not give you) a fair test drive of the boot. Changing footbed thickness can make a big difference in matching the overall volume you need. In general you should try ski boots on with a thin, supportive footbed like Superfeet Blue or Green - $35. (Blue is thinner). You can always go thicker, but this way we don't rule out a descent fitting boot because you stuffed in your super thick custom cork footbed from your alpine boots, or used the napkin-flat stock footbeds that let your arch collapse and toes shoot forward. Also beware of putting one footbed in the boot when there is already one in there. Or worse, trying on boots with no footbed. Ahhhhhh! I wish you were here. If you have no shop to drive to, I'd like to help.

There is a good review from our local friend Craig Dostie at earn your turns dot com

Who are we? Glad you asked! So many ebay sellers don't tell you who they are!

We are a local, independent backcountry sports retailer store established in 1993.  Located in the backcountry skiing paradise of Truckee, California, we are surrounded by hundreds of miles of excellent ski touring and peak descents from Mt. shasta to Mt. Whitney. We sit 13 miles of Lake Tahoe, which is in-between those two California 14'ers.  From the beginning, our shop has employed the most experienced and friendly staff possible.

We have MUCH MORE in stock than you see on ebay! Our specialty is backcountry skiing and snowboarding, Rock Climbing, Cycling, Backpacking and Hiking, and Standup Paddleboarding. We also have a busy consignment department selling used gear and clothing for locals. We also have a very large fleet of rental gear for all of these sports, as well as alpine skiing and snowboarding, kayaking, and even season leased gear.

We are not a huge corporate owned REI type store, but rather your local passionate backcountry-sports-enthusiast owned independent retailer. We have been in business for 19 years, and share our building with a pro mountain guide service ASI (in business over 30 years). Some of our employees are AMGA guides. Thank you for considering making your purchase with us! We know there are 20 other places you can grab this item, but you can feel good about spending your money here. No one is making a killing here, as we share our profits quite evenly with employees. we are just trying to survive and live the dream lifestyle - which is really fun and something we want to share with you!

Our store is only 3000 sq ft, but we have dealerships for hundreds of top outdoor name brands, including but not limited to: Black Diamond, Dynafit, PLUM, Fritchi, Garmont, Dalbello, Scarpa, Crispi, 7TM,  G3, K2, Atomic, Rossignol, Voile, Jones, Prior, Spark R&D, Karakoram, 22 Designs, MSR, Tubbs, Atlas, Verts, Marmot, Mammut, Patagonia, Mountain Hardware, OR, Cloudveil, Deuter, Dakine, BCA, CAMP, Ortovox, Pieps, Brooks Range, Metolius, Petzl, DMM, La Sportiva, Boreal, Five-Ten, Kona, Ellsworth, Yeti, Intense, Niner, Transition, Marin, Jamis, Shimano, Bell Sports, Giro, SRAM, Rockshox, Fox, Lake, Sidi, Carnac, Mavic.....

Availability: Since we are a real shop, there is always a slight possibility that your order will have sold over the counter between our listing and your time of purchase.  Please contact us to be absolutely certain, or if you have any shipping and handling questions, or to see more of our items in stock (much more than we have time to list). If in the VERY rare event that your product is not in stock, we will contact you immediately to offer you a refund or hopefully get you the item shipped to your door with just a few more days tacked on. Our intention is absolutely to list items on ebay that we have in stock all the time.
