This volume presents 26 issues of one of the great German illustrated weekly newspapers.

This periodical was formed in 1888 when two leading illustrated periocicals joined forces: the Deutsche Illustrirte Zeitung of Berlin , and that newpaper's former rival Ueber Land und Meer, published in Stuttgart.

German illustrated periodicals are legendary for the quality of their printing and illustration.  German illustrated periodicals had the largest circulation of any illustrated papers in the world.

This Zeitung previously had been published by Hans Hoffman.

Lacks four pages, which are pages 1005 through 1008.  Also lacks half of page 636.  Pages are mostly clean, with only slight trace of occasional, minor foxing spots. Pages and cover are securely attached. The cover has wear to corners and edges.
