Offered here is a nice old circa 1890 Transitional Navaho weaving that measures 6 feet 5 inches long by 4 foot 11 inches wide or 77” x 59”. It is attributed to the J. B. Moore Crystal Trading Post weaving area and is in good+ condition (sees condition below or call if you have more questions). It was handwoven by a expert weaver on a primitive upright loom of all Native handshorn, handcarded and handspun silky old long staple Churro sheep wool, both weft & warp. This is a great borderless all-over bold stepped concentric diamond and cross motif. The piece has a big bold design would look great on the floor. Old great looking piece “As Is” with No Reserve.
We obtained this vintage Native American textile on a rug hunt here in New Mexico just to offer you here on eBay. It has a smooth, even weft count averaging 18 per inch and a warp count of 5 per inch. The selvage cords are in very good overall condition with about 10" of cord missing on one end. Warp selvages are 2-spiral cords and weft selvages are 2-spiral cords. The corners are all four tight with 3 being excellent and one very good. Three corners have remnants of tassels one corner is missing a tassel. It is fairly clean & comes from a non-smoking home. There is one inch hole in one of the orange crosses and a couple of 1” holes near one corner in the brown that have Native type repairs. All of the damage in this piece should be able to be fixed by a professional pretty easily. Both sides are shown in photos above. Colors are great in this piece of old American Indian art and they are: hand carded & hand blended natural dark chocolate brown & ivory white along with hand dyed aniline turkey red, pale blue and burnt orange. Complete with lazy lines, this example of true antique Native Americana is ready to head your way. (17187KOK)

Be on the lookout…. For everyone who has enjoyed the 100 weavings we offered from a large private California collection in the past months, well… get ready for the jewelry collection next. We have received quite a few pieces of jewelry from the same old Trader who sold quite a bit of Zuni & Navajo turquoise all up and down the West Coast in the 1970s. Most of the collection is mint from the 70s, with some pieces even older. On a quick glance…..some of the makers that caught our eye were Ed Beyuka, John Lucio, Simplicio and Morty Johnson.... There are bolos, squash blossoms, bracelets, belts, belt buckles and more. Probably will start listing pieces starting August 23!
