A great product even if a 3.5" drive sticks waaaay out
This is a clever, simple, well made product that comes complete with mounting screws and a SATA cable. The connections are simple and straightforward so there's no question that it will handle all SATA speeds. It is perfect for that occasional backup drive that's removed and stored in a safe place (you do that, don't you? g) It's quite vulnerable while you are using a 3.5" drive in it, however. Nearly half the drive sticks out and can be easily jarred loose. Only gravity and the friction-fit connectors hold the drive in place. Forget closing your case door while that drive is inserted. Ok, it's not for continuous use. But the ability to quickly and conveniently hook up either a 2.5" or 5.5" SATA drive more than makes up for that inconvenience. This gadget is a simple slick solution for forensic work, backups, cloning, or preloading drives to go in other computers. Hint: If you are using any demountable drive under Windows 10 watch out for wandering drive letters. If you only have one demountable drive it may help to put it in the last SATA socket, but even then the addition of a USB drive or even inserting the demountable drive itself may muck up the drive letter assignments. It's an awfully annoying "feature" of Windows but it's not the end of the earth and not a problem unique to this product. 11/2016 Aza D. Oberman
