Own a piece of Canadian Sports History! Canada's first ever 'pink jersey' - the Giro D'Italia's Maglia Rosa. Donated by 2012 GIRO Champion Ryder Hesjedal, this is the actual jersey worn on the podium following stage 7 of this year's Giro. This one of a kind, autographed jersey has been donated by Ryder Hesjedal to Wheelmen Ride Bicycles (wheelmen.ca) for this unique offering, with 100% of the proceeds going in support of the Ryders Cycling Society of Canada. This item is only slightly worn, may have champagne residue!
“Wheelmen Ride Bicycles” was inspired and launched by Canadian Olympian, Tour de France veteran and Giro D'Italia Champion Ryder Hesjedal in 2010. Wheelmen started as a movement to create awareness for cycling in Canada on the back of Ryder's successes in the pro peleton. Since then, Wheelmen have been able to make several key donations to young competitive cyclists, complete awareness projects increasing the profile of cycling and inspire riders and the public alike. Inspiration to work harder, to support others – and not to underestimate what can be achieved through life’s simple practices. In the Fall of 2011 the Ryders Cycling Society of Canada (a federally registered not-for-profit society) was formed. Spearheaded by Ryder Hesjedal, the mandate of the organization is to create and sustain opportunities for Canadians to ride bicycles. By doing so, RCSC will support and expand the social benefits of cycling and the cyclist's lifestyle. Those benefits include, but are not limited to: better health and fitness, enhanced environmental awareness and ecological impact; improved community cohesion; and greater economic stability. $5 from every purchase you make in store or at wheelmen.ca will go directly to the Ryders Cycling Society of Canada, providing opportunities to excel in sport and inspire healthy lifestyles for all Canadians. On Jun-19-12 at 13:18:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Today June 19th: Ryder Hesjedal, after finding out that there are 7 cyclists on the CAN Fund athlete waiting list and having been a CAN Fund recipient early in his career, is donating 50% of the funds raised from the first ever pink jersey won by a Canadian to CAN Fund! |
