Nintendo NES

Up for grabs is a 23-piece collection of authentic NWC collectibles including the coveted "grail" of Nintendo games: the Nintendo World Championships 1990 cartridge. I realize the word "ultimate" can get thrown around pretty easily these days, but I firmly believe you won't find a larger, better-documented collection of NWC items. The winner of this listing will receive:
  • NWC 1990 Grey Cart #305
  • NWC 1990 Denver 11 & Under Trophy
  • NWC 1990 Denver 11 & Under Nameplate/Plaque
  • Certificate of Authenticity (including photos from the previous point of sale)
  • NWC 1990 Event Poster
  • NWC 1990 Yellow Semi-Finalist Shirt
  • NWC 1990 Semi-Finalist Badge
  • NWC 1990 VIP TC (Travel Companion) Badge
  • NWC 1990 VIP Guest Badge
  • NWC 1990 Quarter Finalist Gold Sticker
  • NWC 1990 Ticket – Portland
  • NWC 1990 Ticket – Oakland
  • NWC 1990 Folder
  • NWC 1990 Flyer
  • NWC 1990 White "I Mastered Them All" Shirt
  • NWC 1990 Black Hat
  • NWC 1990 Insider's Guide
  • Powerfest 1990 Guide
  • The Wizard Pocket Power Guide
  • One (1) Large Plush Mario Doll
  • One (1) Small Plush Mario Doll
  • Two (2) Small Plush Luigi Dolls

I have personally owned and cared for this collection for several years. Most of these items were acquired directly from Nintendo World Championship contestants while some have had a few owners since the event. In every possible case I have recorded the lineage of the item and can provide that to the new owner. The collection comes from a smoke-free home and has been stored safely and securely. The following images are all my original photographs of the items and feature watermarks for security purposes.

So without further adieu, here is the NWC 1990 gray cartridge #305:

Very nice condition label and clean, unmarked gray plastic. Dip switches all present and functional.
I am the third owner - the previous owner bought this directly from Steve Gingerich, the Indianapolis ages 12-17 winner.
One of only 90 that were given to the winners of the original NWC 1990 event and one of the nicest in existence.

Above is the rear side of the cartridge. No marks on the gray plastic. The cartridges were not made with rear labels.

Top of the cartridge is seen above. There is a small smudge/discoloration at the left corner at the top of the label.

The internal PCB featuring the original EPROMs. Clean, streak-free connectors. This is the image Nintendo collectors like to see to confirm authenticity of the game. No flash photography or direct sunlight was used to photograph this cartridge.

Rear side of the cartridge and the opposite side of the game PCB. All components are secure and in fantastic shape.

Above you'll see the cartridge fired up using an original front-loading Nintendo Entertainment System and displaying the title screen.

The prep screen for player one before dropping them into Super Mario Bros. to acquire 50 coins in the fastest time.

Get ready to play Tetris!

The NWC winner's trophy awarded to Dustin Durham, the 11 & Under champion in Denver, CO, as well as his nameplate that was mounted at his playing station at the event.  Photos showing Dustin signing the certificate of authenticity are included (see below). I am the sixth owner and will provide details of provenance to the new owner.

The trophy is nice and glossy, though it has some very minor cosmetic wear that's difficult to notice. Below is a shot of the trophy, nameplate, and cartridge:

Also included (pictured above) is an original Nintendo World Championships 1990 glossy folder that was given to the winners to store their papers.
It was previously owned by Oakland ages 12-17 champion Robin Mihara.

Inside the glossy folder are the images of Dustin Durham signing the certificate of authenticity for the trophy and nameplate, the actual signed CoA, the NWC 1990 Insider's Guide, Powerfest 1990 Guide, The Wizard Pocket Power Guide, and NWC 1990 Event Flyer. The latter four items were previously owned by NWC competitor Robin Mihara.

Above: the reverse side of these items. The flyer for the championships lists the winners for each age group in each city.

Above is the NWC 1990 Event Poster from Oakland, CA where Robin Mihara persevered in the 12-17 age group.
It's printed on fairly heavy paper, by my estimate 120-140lb semi-gloss cover, and measures 19.25" x 13".
I am the fourth owner of this poster and have the lineage documented.

NWC 1990 Yellow Semi-Finalist Shirt (size Medium) awarded to Dustin Durham at the NWC 1990 event. Along with the trophy and plaque, it is mentioned in Dustin's certificate of authenticity.

Above: the "I Mastered Them All" White Shirt (size Medium) awarded to NWC competition winners.
This is one item I don't have an exact origin for, but it was bought from the previous owner of the #305 cartridge.

Pictured above are the front and back images of the ticket stub from the NWC 1990 Portland event.
I can provide the lineage of previous ownership back to an original NWC competitor.

Pictured above are the front and back images of the ticket stub from the 1990 NWC Oakland event.

I can provide the lineage of previous ownership back to an original NWC competitor.

Robin Mihara's NWC 1990 Quarter Finalist Gold Sticker is also included, owned previously by only one other person.
It is unused on its original piece of wax paper.

Above: NWC 1990 VIP TC (Travel Companion) Badge, which was a NWC champion's mother's access pass.
Like all the other badges, this is unused. I recently offered this to the original owner but instead got his blessing to include it in this listing.

NWC 1990 VIP Guest Badge, unused.
I can provide the lineage of previous ownership back to the original NWC competitor.

NWC 1990 Semi-Finalist Badge, another item
purchased directly from an original NWC competitor.

Above is the NWC 1990 Official One-Size-Fits-All Black Hat which is also included.
I am at least the third owner since the event. It's in great condition and appears to've not been used.

This is the large Mario plush doll included in the auction, previously owned by at least two NintendoAge users.
Competitors in the NWC/Powerfest were given Mario or Luigi dolls upon exiting the event.
It's in great condition and measures about 17" tall. Officially licensed by Nintendo (1988 copyright date).

Here are the other three plush dolls from the NWC event, one Mario and two Luigis.
The smaller dolls on the left measure about 9 inches tall while the larger Luigi on the right measures 11" tall. The smaller Luigi's feet have dried and flaked a bit.

I couldn't fit everything into a single image but this is indeed most of it. I hope the good photos and detailed descriptions sooth any doubts regarding this collection's authenticity. The few copies of the cartridge to emerge recently have all broken records for individual sale price. The cartridges have increased in value exponentially over the years, trading owners very rarely. I don't need to explain the investment potential here. This is your chance to own the most desirable video game in existence along with a museum-quality collection of NWC memorabilia that would make even Fred Savage do a backflip.

Involvement in the NES collectors' community is something I highly enjoy keeping up with and I can provide plenty of references to the buyer. I've got a long history of smooth, worry-free transactions on eBay and this sale will be no exception. The listing is open to confirmed eBay users located inside the United States (no international users). Unless prior arrangements are made, after payment is completed all items will be insured and expedited to the new owner via tracked USPS Express Mail with signature required for delivery. Those shipping expenses will be covered by me. I will gladly entertain serious offers and questions from serious buyers.

Payment: According to eBay, individual invoices are capped at $10,000 for sales of collectibles so the buyer may receive multiple invoices depending on the final sale price. Paypal (or credit card payment via Paypal) is preferred, though I'm open to other methods. Please get in touch with me if you have another payment method in mind. Thank you everyone for looking!
