Film Format:

RARE 16mm print of this very hard to find Disney feature. NOT currently released on video or DVD....and never will be!! This film is the jewel of my collection!!  Released in 1946, it deals with a little boy who, with his mother it sent to live with his grandmother for a time, while the mom and dad spend time apart due to marital problems.  The little boy (Bobby Driscoll) is then befriended by Uncle Remus who tells him faniciful stories of Brer Rabbit, and his adventures with Brer Fox and Brer Bear who are out to get him!  This helps the boy to have some sort of escape from the troubles of his real life. Of course, this leads to trouble when his mother thinks he's spending way too much time with Uncle Remus and his land of make-believe..  Remus' stories turn into animation and the film really comes to life!!  Some of the best animation the studio ever did with animation by some of Disney's 'Nine Old Men'...Milt Kahl, Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, Eric Larson, John Lounsbery, Marc Davis, and Les Clark  Unfortunately, the film contains a lot of what is considered today negative stereotypes of African Americans. The dialect and accents used by Uncle Remus are considered  racist caricatures today.....and therefore the film is rarely seen today.  It was released for a short time in Europe on video/PAL in the early '90's, but is long since out of print. . There is a Japanese laserdisc, but it has the Japanese subtitles at the bottom of the screen, which are distracting. This is a beautiful IB Technicolor print of the film!!  It is a grey track IB print. It will NEVER fade.  Overall the film is in very good condition. It is an ORIGINAL print, with light wear. It was struck in the 1960's sometime, so there are occasional lines here and there that come and go, but generally these are very minor pretty common with IB Tech prints. The beginning of the first reel probably has the most wear. But it clears up after a few minutes.  There are a handful of splices in each of the three reels, but NO footage is missing, just a break in the film.  In general at the heads and tails of each reel the wear is a bit more....which is very common. Overall, this is a BEAUTIFUL COLOR  print and extremely rare!!....especially in 16mm. Again....This has NEVER been released for purchase on video or DVD in the US, except  crummy looking bootleg copies.   The screenshots do NOT do the color justice. It is much richer and vibrant than my old digital camera can capture. The images almost jump off the screen!!  Complete print runs 94 minutes,  with great clear soundtrack. Mounted on three 1600' metal reels. All ready to come to life on YOUR big screen!  Great chance to own a super rare print of a wonderful Disney classic. Please feel free to email me with any questions. There is NO VS!! or any warpage whatsoever. Shipping and insurance to be determined based on winning price and buyer location. PLEASE DO NOT mail payment until I have contacted you concerning payment and shipping details. . Thanks for looking, and good luck!

PS.......Since I'm sure a lot of you looking at this listing aren't film collectors and don't have a projector...no worries!! I have a couple extra and we can work something out if the winner does not have one. Don't let that minor detail stop you from bidding. Thank you!
