Broken Social Scene: Guitar String Mix Match Earrings

These RE:strung mix and match earrings have been hand-crafted using recycled guitar strings donated by the guys from Broken Social Scene and have sterling silver ear pins. One earring is the drop triangle style, the other in the small triangle shape, both are silver in color. Each piece of jewelry is hand-crafted using traditional silversmith techniques. In addition, the recycled guitar strings vary in weight and slightly in color. This adds uniqueness, as no two pieces will be exactly the same.

All the proceeds from this listing will go towards the Voice Project's "Forward Recording Base: Dungu" campaign that aims to build a first-of-kind broadcast recording facility in the heart of the combat region affected by LRA violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo in order to record “Come Home” songs and messages as well as safe surrender information for broadcast on FM radio throughout the region. As Political Affairs Officer for the United Nations in the DR of Congo pointed out, "Well over 50% [of LRA defecters] say that the radio and the leaflets contributed to them coming out of the bush...This is working. I and my section will continue to support the efforts of The Voice Project, and we hope they receive the support they need." Indeed, the broadcasts have had a tremendous effect on encouraging surrenders and defection from the LRA and in turn, are playing a huge role in bringing peace to the region.
