Here is an amazing piece of surfing history up for grabs!!!!!
This is one of Tom Curren's personal boards that he surfed and signed in 1991. He won the world title in 1990 so the board was right in the thick of it. Great story with this board... Tom stopped by the Santa Monica Channel Islands store in 1991 on his way to LAX on a trip to Hawaii. He stopped by to check out the newly opened store and gave them this board to hang in the shop. He was given a pen to sign it and it was up until the store closed. When he went to Hawaii this was the trip that he was fed up with the surf industry and ripped all his stickers off and rode blank boards. He ended up surfing the Haleiwa contest and ripping waves to shreds and getting iconic photos on boards with no sponsors names on it. This board is one of the last batch before this change. I'm not a surf historian so please let me know you have anything to add and I'll post. The board is 6'3" and the dimensions are in the photo. I added two inside photos to show the browning better. The board is signed by Al for Tom on the stringer. If you have any info on this board please email me. The photo of Tom in the Rip Curl poster he is riding a very similar board but it isn't the same board. The poster is included in the auction. I bet if you dig in old surf mags you can find this board. I'll ship insured for $200. $400 for international. Contact me before bidding if you have less than 5 feedback.
