Collector Grade NEVER Used in Original Box!! No Reserve
Leica M4-2 Camera Body Canada 10410
Original Box & Packaging
Ever since Oskar Barnack, the original development manager at Leitz, created the world's first 35mm camera in 1913, Leitz/Leica has managed to stay convincingly on-top of the 35mm world. Ernest Leitz’s undying commitment to perfection has certainly continued to be the underlying standard of this company, over the last 100 years no other photo equipment manufacturer has been able to measure up to Leica in terms of overall construction quality or image results. The fact that Leica/Leitz cameras and lenses that were built over 70 years ago still outperform many of today’s high-dollar equipment is a true testament to how well they were made.
The Leica M4 series is one of the most beloved 35mm cameras in existence. Its popularity has always been high, even overshadowing, and eventually eliminating, its successor the M5. Three production variations of the m4 series exist : The original M4, 1967-1975: This was a highly successful combination of the best features of the M3 & M2. It also had the added benefits of an improved film loading system, self-resetting counter, hinged tip film advance lever, improved ergonomics, and more. The M4-2 , 1978-1980.: This was produced after the lukewarm reception of the M5. It was identical to the original M4 with the addition of the electrical wiring and power shift for use with an electric motor. It also had a hot shoe for automatic flash synchronization. The M4-P (Professional) 1981-1987: Contains all the refinements of its predecessors with the additions of 6 parallax corrected frame lines viewable through the viewfinder, making it compatible with all existing lenses without the use of an accessory viewfinder. It also contains the necessary improvements to make it compatible with the emerging motor drives of the day. Further cosmetic changes were made to give it an updated look, such as the new-fashion LEICA logo, and popular red disc Leitz script logo .
This auction is for a 2nd version, M4-2 version containing the bulk load of improvements and desirable features. This M4-2 was a welcome sight for photographers of late 70’s, dismayed with the direction the M5 took. Fortunately the M4-2 was a marvel to use, and easily won back respectability for the Leica name brand. There is a reason why this camera is so well loved. It is a tremendous joy to use with photographic results that are un obtainable from any other camera, regardless of format or type. As you can see this camera is collector grade, never used! Truly rare to find in this condition.

And Much More!
camera was purchased new by a collector in the 80’s. It was inspected, put back in its box, an optimally stored for the next couple of decades. It is in like new condition, no obvious blemishes no signs of use. It was never loaded with film. I dry fired the shutter at all speeds. It was a little bit sluggish on the slower speeds, but seemed to work free after a few rounds. The viewfinder is clean and clear. You will be hard pressed to find another M4-2 in this condition. Original box shows minor ware from storage.
