FLAP SAYS: EVE DALLAS and her partner, peabody are following up on a brutal senseless crime an elderly grocery owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. and for the first time, peabody is primary detective on the case, which means she has to get used to a new level of authority and responsibility. good thing she learned the ropes from a master like eve. but after rounding up the perps, peabody stumbles upon a much trickier situation. determined to start working out as hard as she grills suspects, she chose to do it at the old rarely used gym at central. after a grueling workout, she squeeze into one of the narrow shower stalls, happy to have the place to herself. just after she shuts the water off the gym door clatters open and while she cringes inside the stall trying not to make a sound. peabody overhears two fellow officers, garnet and oberman arguing. references are made to delivering product and house in the island and someone named keener who's supposed to look like an od. this was good, it was different that previous books, but similiar in style. i feel like i did with indulgence, when eve and roarke go to ireland for vacation and solve that murder in a short story, and then she comes home to a bigger case. this has a small short story in the beginning and then the large story starts after peabody hits the shower. i would have liked a longer ending, i would have liked to have seen oberman get questioned and i would have liked to know what that strong had on oberman. maybe it will be continued in the next book she's done that before. i also need to go back and re-read and figure out what mavis's part was, it really didn't make sense........it was cute though, very cute, Das....... out of the mouths of babes.Read full review
Remember When....Nora Roberts has written many novels, but her best have J D Robb as the main character. Nora has created several different series giving her readers more insight to each character in the series. whether the characters are related by blood or adoption, the bond is just as strong. None are saints, but they are honest, hard working and trustworthy. If one has a problem, you must deal with them all. Their word is their bond. She holds the readers attention from the first few pages until the very end. this book includes a listing of a series in a certain collection. my spouse has several paper back, but i hope to replace them with hardbound. i look forward to many more.
If you are, like me, a devotee of the Death by series, then this latest in JD Robb's tales of the life of Detective Eve Dallas is a must read. It always surprises me that she can take the same sets of characters, throw in a few new bad guys and make it all mesh. I love her plots and we all have secret fantasies about a guy like Roarke. Read it. You'll enjoy it.
Fast, easy read. I've been reading the Eve Dallas series for many years and have never been disappointed with the storyline or characters.
This book is facinating... and JD Robb is the best... I just can't get enough.... I didn't start reading her till a few years back and now I'm hooked.. I even got my husband hooked... looking for novels of years past...
