10 Vntg Madeira Fish Cocktail Napkins Coasters Organdy & Linen Applique UNUSUAL

Lovely vintage set of 10 Madeira fish cocktail napkins. Madeira linens are one of the best fine linens of the 20th century. These are very unusual so I don't know if they were used as coasters, cocktail napkins or a small mat type linen used for serving shrimp cocktail. They were brought back from Portugal by the original owner mid 20th century and have that fine quality one would expect of Madeira linens. Each are shaped like a fish. Made of white organdy with embroidered fine linen appliques to the mouth area, fins and tail. Exquisite hand embroidered edging with embroidered detailing to the heads and tail. The body has hand embroidery that simulates scales to the fish. Five (5) face one way and the other five (5) face the other as you can see in photo #2. Photos #8 through 12 show the backside stitching. I have never seen such a set and the workmanship is fabulous which is always found with Madeira or Marghab linens. Lovely set to add to ones collection of fine linens.  Please read condition and measurements below and look at all of the photos as they are part of the description.  

CONDITION: Excellent condition. No holes, tears, repairs or stains. These have been gently laundered and are ready to use. No odor. My home is smoke-free.  

MEASUREMENTS:  7 1/2 in. across, head to back tail and 5 1/8 in. wide measured at the center.
