The property is located about five miles south of the town of Winona, Missouri. Winona is a great small town with schools, restaurants and stores. Branson, Missouri is less than three hours from the property. St. Louis is about 135 miles from the property. The county seat is Eminence, Missouri and is about half an hour from the property. Eminence is well know for its trail rides, fishing, floating and festivals.

The area was logged a few years ago so there is quite a bit of brush scattered around different areas. All property owners within the development have the right to use dead or downed trees within the road easement for firewood purposes (through 2015). Bring a chainsaw and you could get a lifetime supply of firewood with a little bit of work.


This area map shows the route to the property from the town of Winona. From Highway 60 just go south on Highway 19 for 2 1/2 miles then go east on County Road 580 (a gravel road) for 2 1/4 miles and you will see the entrance to Wilderness Lake on the left side of the road. The entrance is a double set of blue gates. The gates are generally closed and although they may appear to be locked they will NOT ACTUALLY be locked. County Road 580 may be shown as "Old Tram Road" on your GPS unit. Set your trip-meter when you turn south onto Highway 19 as it is almost exactly 2 1/2 miles until you go east on County Road 580.

There are no building codes in the area so you are free to build what you like without a building inspector poking around your property. Bring your family or a few friends and you can have a small hunting cabin put together in a couple of weeks! Electric and phone are on the easement road about a quarter mile from the property. Water would be by well or cistern. A standard septic system is generally a good choice for waste disposal for a large home but for a vacation cabin many people find an outhouse to be very usable, and they don't smell when maintained properly! The inexpensive Wal-Mart camping toilets are great for temporary usage as well. A simple lagoon can also be an excellent choice for waste disposal and in fact many new homes in the Ozarks use lagoons, which generally cost just a few hundred dollars to dig/install.
