Wireless Headphones Info Car Video System Applications

What Type of Wireless Headphones are needed for your Car Video System. Compatible? Differences?

Dont Know the Type/Frequency ?  Is our Single Channel IR Headphone compatible ?
- Single Channel IR the Frequencies are well standardized, most use the same 2.3/2.8mhz stereo.
- Products that simply list IR Transmitter are almost always the standard Single Channel IR type.
- If no idea what type your system is other than finding specs what you can do to help match it up.
  In this case determining by inspecting will be safe over 9 of 10 times when specs are not available.
  IR Transmitter = 4 Red Glowing LEDs in Tinted Window. Should be in line of sight when viewing.

IR / Infrared - used the most in Mobile Video Systems
Require Line Of Sight, should be mounted not portable
Better Quality to Cost, Locked Frequency, Low Power
Available in 1/2/4 Channel/Source Options for Systems
(Single/1 - for Overheads and most Headrest Systems)
(Dual/2 - some Headrest for Double DVD, DVD/Game)
(4 Channel - used in specialty Systems, very uncommon)

RF / FM - Used in multiple applications, sometimes car
Subject to Radio Interference Issues (No Line of Sight Required)
Emitters can be hidden mounting or portable options are available
Worse cost per quality vs IR but can be found in high end versions
RF can be found in various grades, types, frequencies and channels
- Primarily Home, not popular but is used OEM and other Mobile
- Hard to Match without freq specs, highest cost per quality ratio
FM is normally easy to match with a variety of qualities and types
- Can be used for multiple applications, many variations available
- Emitters Playback to any FM Radio Receiver (Headset/Vehicle/etc)
- Available Low Cost Analog thru Premium Digital Tune Headphones
- Portable Battery, Car Lighter, 12VDC and other power connections
- Shares bands with Broadcast Radio requires set accordingly to avoid

 

Install / Operational Issues to Avoid with Transmitters / Headsets.
2 Like Frequency Transmitters Can Not occupy the same vehicle space.
When this happens the 2 will cause interference or cancel each other out.
Common on multiple Monitor Systems that have built in IR Transmitters.
Disabling all but one centrally located Transmitter will correct this issue.
When using 2 Sources a Dual Channel Wireless Systems is required.
