Buying a belt can be quite tricky. Many brands size differently making this process even more difficult. We have told customers to purchase belts at least one waist size above the pants size. If you wear a size 36 pair of pants, you should go with a 38 or 40. Whether you chose a 38 or a 40 may depend on the preference of the person wearing the belt. Does he want a tight fit? Is his waist fairly contant, or does it fluctuate? Would he be turned off by a small belt or would he be inspired to loose a couple pounds?
