What does feedback do for me and you!

What does feedback do for me and you!

What is feedback: Feedback is an essential part of the eBay community. It allows buyers and sellers to provide a short comment about your experience with the buyer/seller.

Why is it important: Feedback is important to a buyer because before you buy you can review others comments regarding a seller. You can see if the seller is honest, if they describe an item accurately, if they ship quickly, if they package well. You can also see if anyone has had any issues and if so what were those issues. Is it regarding a particular item or is it a trend with the seller

Feedback is important to a seller because they can see you have history on the eBay site and they can see if you are legit buyer or if you are just bidding for the trill and you have no intentions of purchasing the item you won.

Why should I leave feedback: As a buyer, it is important for you to give feedback to the seller. However, if you feel the transaction did not go well or if you have an issue (where you want to leave less than good feedback) - it is always good practice to try an resolve it with the seller first. Go into the item you purchased and click Contact the Seller. I would give the seller 2 business day to respond to an issue. And once the issue is resolved then leave the appropriate feedback.

Feedback not only helps the buyer understand how they are doing, but it also shows other buyers a little bit about that seller

As a seller, it is always good practice to leave a buyer feedback as soon as they make prompt payment. It shows you care about your sellers up front!

What if I have an issue with my purchase: As a buyer, you should always try to contact the seller to let them know you are having a problem. A good seller is there to help. Most sellers do care about their buyers and offer solutions or alternatives.

What are DSRs: DSRs are Detailed Seller Ratings. I urge buyers to think before they leave feedback because all feedback has an impact on a sellers reputation.

The ratings are broken down as follows:

Item as described: Read the sellers description fully to ensure that it is as they say it is. If you have an issue or the item is not as described, contact the seller before leaving less than 5 stars. If it is as it was described and photographed leave the seller 5 stars!

Communication: Most sellers set up automatic communication to help them get your information to you in a timely manner. Don't take this automation the wrong way, it helps them get you your tracking # fast, letting you it shipped, etc. If you ask the seller a question, allow them 1 business day to respond. Sometimes they get many questions a day and sometimes they have to find the answer for you. Keep in mind that many sellers are businesses and operate only during the work week. If they respond during the work week (Monday through Friday) give them 5 stars!

Shipping time: check the listing, does the seller say they will ship with in 1 business day? Did they ship with in 1 business day? Did they ship quickly? Give them the rating they deserve.

Shipping and handling charges: this is the on that gets a bit tricky. Every eBay listing has the shipping costs stated on the listing. For Buy It Now items the trend has been to start offering free shipping, so sellers increase the price to cover the shipping. Sellers who tend to do auction listings, start their auction very low and do not allow or increase the price to cover shipping and handling. Since shipping and handling are stated on the listing, you should be sure to read this over before you bid. If you feel the shipping is too high, find another seller or bid accordingly.

When the item arrives, you also have to review the packaging. Keep in mind that many sellers package their items with in shipping guide lines that require new unused boxes, real packing materials (peanuts and bubbles) - all of which cost some real money. A roll of bubbles can cost up to $40, a bag of peanuts can cost $20 and boxes can cost over $2 each. If you are not sure what packing supplies cost, call a UPS store and find out. Then they have to package the item and ship it. So in all honesty shipping is not free especially for auction style eBay listings. So when you go to leave a seller a DSR star rating on shipping, keep all these things in mind. Remember this is always stated up front for all buyers to see before you bid.

Overall feedback is a great way to help other buyers and sellers on eBay and honesty is always best. Remember contact the buyer/seller if you have a problem. It is always best to try to resolve an issue first!

Happy eBaying
