Wakeboard Vests and PFD's

This Guide Is Brought To You By Dj's Boardshop

Breakdown on Wake Vests and What Not

Say goodbye to the crusty orange PFD's (personal flotation devises) that Grandpa made you wear when you went fishing.  Say hello to comfy, form-fitting neoprene vests.  The main acronym you'll need to know when it comes to wake vests is USCGA (United States Coast Guard Approved).  When it comes to picking the right wake vest there are several important issues you'll want to factor into the equation.  These factors include: state laws, conditions you are riding in, personal preference, and the fact that you can still "look cool" while wearing a vest that can save your life!

Here at Dj's Boardshop, we recommend that you look for the USCG approval number on any wake vest.  Also remember to read the manufacturer's label and the "Think Safe" pamphlet that's attached to the vest.  This may sound dramatic, but choosing the right vest can literally save your life.  Below is a breakdown on the different wakeboarding vests and accessories we carry.

PFD's

Competition/Freeride: thinner and lighter than USCGA vests.

Side Entry: available in USCGA and freeride models.

Molded: available in USCGA and freeride models.

Pullover: fits like a wetsuit top, not USCGA.

ACCESSORIES

Riding Shirts: Worn under vest, not a PFD.

Rashguard: Worn under your vest or wetsuit, not a PDF.

Keep your head up!

Best,
Dj
