Hugh Hefner  published the first edition  in December of 1953 and was undated.  It featured Marily Monroe and was a huge success.  This edition of Playbook is one of the most sought after editions and is worth greater than $6300 .  This copy can range in price from $1100 to $6300 depending on condition.

How often have you heard someone say..."I only read Playboy for the articles".  Well like many others I thought they were being funny.  As it turns out many authors have written for playboy, Hemingway, King, Haley, Bradbury and many others.
