Collectors busting forthcoming boxes of 2007 Upper Deck Spectrum Baseball should take notice. Beckett Baseball has learned that Upper Deck Spectrum will include an additional autograph line up that until today, hasn’t been announced on any public sales sheet.
Spectrum of Stars, a 40-card autographed insert set, will include various celebrities from Hollywood, music and television.
“There are more than 40 celebrities who have signed for the product, and almost all of them have added a famous quote or notable nickname of a character they’re famous for,” said Greg Kohn, baseball product manager for Upper Deck. “For instance, Barry Williams added “Greg Brady” or “Johnny Bravo” to some of his cards. Ed O’Neill signed his cards “Al Bundy.”
In addition to the added inscriptions, many of the celebrities signed in a variety of ink colors.
“Many of the celebrities signed with three different ink colors, and some may have signed in more,” Kohn added. “Collectors can expect that the majority of autographs will be available in red, black and blue ink variations.”
Other notable names in the set include Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, Lou Gossett Jr., Tiffany, Leif Garrett, Catherine Bach, Michael Madsen and Carrot Top.
Spectrum of Stars Signatures will fall three per case. Spectrum of Stars Mystery Redemptions will be an exclusive redemption program where the collector won’t know what autograph they are scheduled to receive until it arrives in the mail.
“We’ve narrowed down the mystery redemption candidates to three to four of our most popular signers,” said Kohn. “Personalities like Fergie and others will be well represented.”
Spectrum Baseball, available late April 2007, will carry a $6.99 per-pack SRP and each 20-pack box will feature an average of two memorabilia cards and two autographs.
