Gather your materials.
Start this project by collecting your burned-out lightbulbs. You'll then need some paint and a few other supplies you have lying around the house in order to complete these adorable DIY Christmas ornaments.
Draw an outline for the penguin's body as shown.
Paint on the black tuxedo with a foam brush.
Glue on googly eyes.
Cut the foam sheet into the shape of beaks and feet.
Then glue the beak and feet to the lightbulb.
Glue on a hat and scarf.
I simply used a holiday ribbon for the scarf. Then, I bought these adorable little Santa hats to finish it off.
When you're finished, you can simply add ribbon and hang it from a tree. How cute are these little penguins?!
Decorating for the holidays is the perfect way to gather the family for special traditions, and these little guys really add a fun touch to the tree. The cute DIY decoration really adds a festive touch to my home.
Plus, it will give your Christmas tree a heartfelt touch of homemade with this fun ornament craft.
It's great to see that something so ridiculously adorable is so easy to make. Plus, it feels good converting waste materials into new, unique decorations.
Kids will love helping to make these cute ornaments — they can even write their name on a penguin before hanging it up on the Christmas tree (just make sure there is adult supervision while making this craft).
The next time your lightbulbs burn out, grab some paint to make a penguin ornament! Will you make this at home? Let us know!
Of course, this is just one way to make a handmade ornament. Feel free to share other ideas with us, too.
