PlayStation 3 systems are going to be expensive! We all know that, but what can we do about it? What if you could trade-in your old Xbox or PlayStation 2 games when the time comes to purchase a PS3 system and games? Instead of selling your old games to the local GameStop, EBGames or mom & pop video game store, what if you could use these games to pay for your purchase here on eBay? Sound too good to be true? Up until 2005, trading in your video games on eBay was just a fantasy, but late last year, eBay launched their "Trade-in" program for a number of categories on eBay. BRE Software, a pioneer in the used video game business, joined the Trade-in program and began accepting trade-ins on video games purchased on eBay.
Here's how it works:
To find out how much you can get for your old games and/or systems, find any video game, system or accessory listing from BRE Software (or seller id: playstation3games). In each video game listing there will be a trade-in calculator that will tell you EXACTLY how much you'll receive for your old games, systems or accessories. Your quote will be generated online instantly. You can generate a quote for your entire collection, just add each item to the cart and you'll get a running total (computers are real good at this stuff). You can also go to BRE Software's eBay Store to find their Video Game Trade-in Calculator.
To actually create the trade-in transaction, you will have to purchase a video game item from BRE Software. Find and purchase the item you want, it can be an auction item or a Buy it Now item. Pay for your purchase with PayPal just like you normally do on any eBay item. After your PayPal payment has been made, you will receive an E-Mail with a link to a trade-in calculator that will allow you to complete your trade-in transaction. This trade-in calculator is exactly like the one listed in the description of each item and contains the same prices. Due to eBay's rules regarding trade-in transactions, you must complete your purchase before creating a trade-in transaction.
After completing your trade-in transaction, you will be able to print out a trade-in receipt and a FREE Shipping Label so make sure you have a printer available. Follow the instructions on the trade-in receipt to send in your items using the FREE shipping label. It will normally take 1-2 weeks for BRE Software to receive your package. Within a couple business days of receiving your package, BRE Software will inspect your items and refund the amount due to your PayPal account.
There are no minimums or restrictions on the number of games you trade-in. Some customers will trade-in 1-2 games they aren't playing any more, some will trade-in enough games to cover the cost of their purchase. If you're "done" with your PlayStation 2, you can trade-in the system and all games on a single purchase from BRE Software. If the value of your trade-in items is more than the amount of your eBay purchase, BRE Software will refund your entire eBay purchase and send the additional funds to your PayPal account.
