Thermo stat sensor failed costing me a $1,000 to fix

I purchased this item back on June 11th and I am writing today about my experience of buying an inferior product.

I paid $350 originally to have this part installed and immediately ran into a manufacture defect when the radiator hose clip failed to properly seat to the thermostat housing.  I then had to pay to have my retainer clip modified so that the hose would not come off while driving.

On August 2nd, My car died while driving in the commuter lane on the highway.  I was fortunate to safely pull off 4 lanes of the highway to then wait 2 hours in a sweltering hot car waiting for my emergency tow to the nearest mechanic in a city that was 20 miles from where I live.  I then paid $350 for a misdiagnosis and repairs.  I then paid $150 to have my car towed to another car repair shop 15 miles away.  I learned that the sensor on my thermostat housing failed and caused my car to go into an emergency shutdown.  To replace the part with labor cost another $643.  If you have been adding up the costs will recognize that a $100 part had a much higher price than buying the part from the dealer and having it done right the first time.

The lesson learned is to never buy inferior parts in from a dealer from someone you don't know.
