Take care when laundering your Chico's garments with shell buttons, as they tend to be fragile and breakage is common.
A word of caution to those who are fans of the wonderful Chico's clothing line. Chico's commonly uses a 'shell' type of button on many of their garments. This shell is a product of nature and may be abalone, mother of pearl, or a number of other natural products. As such, these buttons are delicate and have a tendancy to break in the dryer, even on a gentle cycle. Often buyers are unaware that the garment they are purchasing on eBay or a catalog has shell buttons.
Examine your Chico's buttons closely to determine if they are made of a natural shell product, and use great care when laundering, especially if you use a clothes dryer, however, line drying may be a better option. Of course, if you are handy with a needle and thread, replace your buttons with a sturdier type if you do encounter breakage, as I have done with many of my personal Chico's garments. If you prefer to replace them with natural shell buttons, you will find a wonderful selection of buttons on eBay!
