Stamps how to sell if you are a knowledgable collector

Many long time collectors who know stamps are puzzled by the process of selling and as a result waste a lot of time preparing a collection for sale. First understand a knowledgable dealer (buyer) will correctly evaluate your stamps without your having to "prepare" them in any way. I jokingly tell collectors if you hide the good stamps i'll find them anyway. Certainly if you want to catalogue your stamps prior to sale, for your own information, do so. But if you are going to spent that time you might as well do it in a fashion that would be of some possible benifit to the buyer. I personally would like to see a collection with a light pencil cat.price at he bottom of each page and a tape that can be followed. Also note that you can cut down the time it takes to cat, a collection by just doing the higher cat stamps and add an estimate of the lower cat . items. Also if a world wide collection is prepared for sale each country cat value should be presented seperately . This can't hurt and can provide valueable information to the buyer. If the collection is truly catalogued correctly each country was done and it takes little extra time to note the total for each.
