SELL MORE ITEMS : Using ACTUAL Photos VS Stock Photos

A GREAT WAY to INCREASE your sales on eBay is to include "Actual" photos of the items you are selling, rather than just using the Stock Photos that eBay provides, for items such as books, CD's, DVD's, Games, Phones, Electronics, etc. Many times one picture is enough, unless your selling a hard-to-find item or an expensive item, then provide as many pictures as you can.

Most buyers strongly prefer to see the "actual item" they are buying, PRIOR to making a purchase. As most Sellers find, by providing atleast one ACTUAL picture of the item they are selling, they SELL MORE ITEMSMUCH QUICKER and FOR A HIGHER DOLLAR AMOUNT. As a Buyer, it is very hard to bid on an item(or use Buy-It-Now) when you cannot see the "actual item". Prior to 2008, eBay used to charge for Gallery Photos, but now since they are FREE, it is your best bet to include a picture in your listing and EVERYONE can see the item while browsing the many others that are for sale on eBay. There are many times we do in fact bid on auctions with only Stock Photos provided and we find at the end of auction that we are the only bidders, and win items for much, much less than similar items on eBay are selling for. This can be very good for Buyers, and very bad for Sellers.

They have always said that a picture is worth 1000 words. Well, in all reality, only "one" picture may not be worth a 1000 words, but one ACTUAL photo of the item CAN make or break a sale for sure!

Spending just a little bit more time per listing by including a NICE PICTURE of the actual item can lead to a couple extra dollars to 100's of extra dollars in your pocket, depending on what youre selling and how many items you sell on eBay.

If you do not have a digital camera or camera phone to take/download pics to your computer, these can be purchased everywhere(including on eBay) for VERY CHEAP. You can pick up a good, solid digital camera for as low as $10.00-$15.00 shipped! You'll be sure to make your money back in no time!

So, if you enjoy selling on eBay, and prefer to make as much as the next guy, be sure to snap a few pictures of your items prior to listing, and include them in your auctions! It lets the Buyers see EXACTLY what item you are selling and gives them a better idea of things they may have questions about. For example, as we mentioned in one of our other Guides, MANY Sellers are selling NEW and Used DVD's on eBay but are not including the case and inserts, JUST THE DISCS. So, if you see an auction that doesnt specify that the original case is included and they use a Stock Photo from eBay's Pre-Filled Listing Info, you cannot be sure what to expect when your item arrives. Therefore, a picture of the actual item lets you know in advance what to expect!
