Second Chance Offers - OPT OUT - Be Safe
This guide is to help you avoid the second chance offers.
There is such a large SCAM going on with Second Chance Offers.
Why take that risk?
This was an option created by eBay to help sellers who had more than one identical item or from NPB (No Pay Bidders) so that sellers can offer you a second chance to win the auction with your highest bid. This will hurt the legitimate sellers, but they are getting hurt anyway with people sending the fraudulent second chance offers as if it came from the legitimate seller.
I cannot stress enough to always check 'My Messages' in your eBay account - this will show you the legitimate messages from eBay or other ebay users as well as second chance offers.
- Use Preferences to change your eBay settings for email, payment, selling, etc
- Look for the heading: Buying Notifications
If your preferences are not all showing, on the right-side of the screen select 'Show'
- Look for 'Second Chance Offer' by default it says Email
- Select 'Edit'
You will be taken to the eBay log on screen for verification purposes and will need to log in.
"Allow Sellers to Send Me Offers through eBay for items that I bid on but did not win"
When you uncheck the checkmark and you save it, it will change to read "Not subscribed"
You will no longer receive Second Chance Offers.
If you do - you know it is a S C A M.
eBay should consider changing that default option to "Not subscribed" and allow users to OPT in.
I hope you find this guide easy to read and understand.
Wishing you a continued safe and happy shopping experience.
