READ THIS IF YOUR CHANGING A PS PUMP ON YOUR CAR

I had to change the power steering pump on my wifes 1994 cougar. First thing is to check ebay as I found a Rebuilt Pump  for $44 including shipping. A lot cheaper then my local auto parts store.

You will need a special puller to remove the power steering pump pully and another tool to put the pully back onto the shaft, as it is a press fit. Don't hammer pully back on as you can bend the pully or damage the pump bearings.

There are a few kits with these tools on ebay & off Ebay for an average price of $40.00 plus tax or shipping.

Save some money. You can buy the puller alone from a seller on ebay for $15.00 including shipping. Then go to your local hardware store & buy a 3/8-16 course threaded rod, a nut & large thick 1 1/2 -2 inch diameter washer to fit the rod. Cut a 4 inch length from rod. Thread it into the power steering pump shaft, fit pully onto end of shaft . Now put large washer on threaded rod against the front of pully hub & thread the nut up agaist the washer.

Hold the washer edge with vise grips to keep it from turning. Now just crank down on the nut with a wrench and it will push the pully back onto the shaft with no problem. The hardware cost me only $3.97. You will be saving over $20 by not buying the $40.00 kit.  I beleive you can use this tool set up for Altanator pullies also.

Best seller on Ebay to buy Alternators is DB electric out of tennesee. Purchased a brand new 130 amp Altanator for $101.00 including S&H. New not rebuilt. Saved aprox $150 on this Item. Very nice people to deal with. Even though he did not have my altanator listed, he checked and ordered me the correct one & gave me the same $89.99 listing price.
