I remember when I first heard about the Pottery Barn company. My husband and I were having our home built and were living with his sister during its construction. She was a customer of theirs and had received a new catalog. At the time, I was looking for a duvet cover and she pointed out one in their catalog. My eyes POPPED out of my head when I saw their prices. I thought, "Are they crazy!".
Over the next month or two, my attention kept getting drawn back to their casual, but sophisticated, style. My search for the "perfect" duvet cover ensued, but no other store or catalog seemed to have one that matched the room as well as the Pottery Barn one. Well, I decided to "bite the bullet" and purchased it. I was SHOCKED to see they were going to charge me $17 to ship this cover and (2) shams. Trust me, I was expecting to be ripped off after seeing the total bill.
It's been 9 years now and I still LOVE this duvet cover. Their quality cannot be beat. The color is still as vibrant as the day it arrived. This cover gets used everyday. That is over 3,000 uses and the only wear it is starting to show is a small section of one seam that needs a few stitches. Also, because they provide classic styling, my duvet is still "in style" and does not seem outdated.
I mention my first experience, as it was the reason that I wanted their bedding and furniture for my son. I knew their quality would withstand the wear and tear a child puts their things through. Pottery Barn has consistently lived up to every expectation that I have had. Today, I perused every catalog Pottery Barn sends. To mention I few things that we've bought.....
For my son's 1st birthday, we bought him the Catalina Craft table and (4) chairs. This table is so well crafted. The drawers still slide along their tracks and the finish is still as rich as the day it arrived (it's over 5 years old!). This table is a fixture in our kitchen and blends with our furniture. Friends and family are amazed at its sturdiness and versatility. Most visits seem to center around us sitting in those little chairs and doing arts and crafts or eating on it. We tend to forget it was intended for small children. :-)
When Ian turned 18 months and ready for a toddler bed, Pottery Barn Kids was the only retailer that I could find with quilts made to fit a toddler bed. The other brands' crib quilts are wide and not long enough to fit toddler beds. The crib quilt never seemed to have a "made" look to the bed's appearance. They are meant to be draped on the bed and not to be folded or tucked. You'll find Pottery Barn Kids quilts are wider and longer. Their quilts are the perfect size. Also, Pottery Barn Kids made a small toddler pillow that is perfect for toddler beds. They even have pillow cases and shams for the smaller pillow!
If you haven't viewed one of their catalogs lately, I highly recommend checking them out. If you like to get the best quality for your money, you won't be disappointed! Their quality is made to last for years.
