The Petsafe Underground Fence System Workings
The way the Petsafe underground system works is as follows: You have a plug in a transformer that powers a small transmitter located in your house ( usually in garage). You run a twisted pair of wires , used to cancel the signal so your dogs can cross over it without a correction , out to your boundary wire, where the twisted wire splices to the boundary wire. The boundary wire is run in a COMPLETE CIRCLE ( this is a must ) around your property. Your dogs wear a battery operated collar, if they get in range of the boundary wire signal, anywhere from 3' to 15' from the wire, adjustable at the transmitter, they will get a correction. On Deluxe collar/receiver Systems, and Stubborn Dog Systems ( also called Super receivers) this correction is adjustable with 4 different levels, plus tone only on level 1, and vibration and tone on Super receivers only. On all Standard Systems the collar receivers only have 1 level of correction.

* It has been Monell Pets' experience that although these collars may fit dogs with an 8" neck size, that our customers have been dissatisfied with how large the physical size of these collar/receivers are. We only recommend these collars for dogs over 18 lbs. Any dog smaller than 18 lbs., we recommend the Deluxe Little Dog Collar.
All of the above Receiver collars use an RFA-67D-11 battery, except the Deluxe Little Dog receiver collar which uses an RFA-188 Battery , and the Stubborn Dog receiver collar , which uses a standard 9 volt battery.
One of the best features of the Petsafe underground fence system, is that each of the 7 above systems collars/receivers are inter-changeable. This means that you can customize your fence system for your own personal needs, at your time of purchase, or in the future as the need may arise.
EXAMPLE If you have a Large Dog ( over 40 lbs.) and a small dog ( under 15 lbs.) and a Cat.
You could purchase a Stubborn 1 Dog Fence System ( PIG00-10777) and a Little Dog Receiver (PIG00-10778) and a Cat Receiver Collar (PIG00-11006). They will all work with the Stubborn Dog Transmitter and contain all three pets in the containment area.
