It amazes me that a game can come so close to perfect and still have issues which are so obvious, yet still make it to the market unfinished. I'm speaking of the frame rate. This is a significant problem in Mass Effect 3.
The game is constantly loading which causes the frame rate to drop to zero for a split second then resume with you facing a different direction. Catastrophic in battle, and annoying as he** any other time. This happens ALLOT.
How this could make it past quality control is astounding. When you visit the Citadel which is where you spend most of your time other than the ship, but the ship is the same, you are constantly made to sit through LOADING screens when simply changing between floors or decks. This has the effect of pulling the player out of the experience and is incredibly distracting from the flow of the game.
With continuous loading going on in the background which lags the frame rate and then waiting for hard loads between floors, this is ridiculous.
This game also suffers from the Electronic Arts syndrome of evaporating dead guys. What is it with this dopey company and sanitized bloodless battlefields????
EA should decide what it wants to be when it grows up.....a kiddie game designer or an adult game producer.
EA seems to be polluted with political correctness. The game is lousy with liberal overtones of gay and machismo female exposure which has a deleterious and suggestive aspect to it which in my opinion illustrates the true character of EA and resembles a weak attempt at social engineering of the youth playing video games.
Violence in video games should not be the public issue, social engineering or moral devolution SHOULD be.
The saving grace of this game is plain and simply, the story. Combined with the Star Trek like format, it sweeps the player into another realm of possibility, one that more and more people are looking for since things on our real planet are in the crapper and ready for the big flush.
The voice acting is top notch and the script is also. MA3 is a marvel of technological and story telling talent, both combined which has never been seen in a video game.
I suppose the real shame here is that MA3 is so unpolished in the graphics department. Some parts of MA3 are beautiful, while others are simply terrible.
One issue I have is the sliding bad guys who seem to move their feet as if walking toward you but who then slide left and right across the battle area. This is pathetic in this day and video game age.
This is not so much a review as it is a critique of Electronic Arts who should know better than to let this game release in this condition.
Yes it is the best game ever released. It is also the best game to ever miss being perfect.
Again, the story and the narrative (movie) watchable version are unique and the saving grace of this game and they are magnificent.
It's a pity it's so riddled with obvious problems. It could have been the zenith of video game creations so far.
