Knives & Multi Tools

Pocket knives & multi tools are sold by many sellers and resellers on eBay.  Unfortunately many of them are counterfeit; especially Gerber skeleton knives, Laquiole combination corkscrew & knife, Buck and Schrade pocket knives.

This is terrible for the collector new to ebay shopping.  The photos appear to be the real thing, and the description is misleading, but implies the item is the real thing.  Usually there are no photos of all the tang (part of blade nearest handle that identifies manufacturer, country of origin & usually steel density and year codes.   If there is no photo of the tang be wary.  The country of origin may be diguised along rim of handle, inside blade storage areas, or very small font size inside the knife anywhere.

The best way to avoid this scam is to ask questions.  Also if there is no photo of tang, ask the seller to provide one and also ask the country of orgin.  If it says USA, France, Switzerland, Germany or Italy, it is usually geniune, but simply ask anyway, "hey is this USA made?"  Simply beware and if the item is not attracting as many interested bidders, the price is probably too good to be the real thing.

Our storefront offers "surplus" knives & multi-tools that are siezed, confiscated or no longer useful to the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  There may be counterfeit, knock offs or anything in our store, but if so, we try to fully dislcose that information in the description.  If we are selling a Laquiole, we try to ascertain that it is indeed, a Laquiole.  Visit our storefront to see the knives and multi tools added daily M-F.  Simply type the following in your web browser:  http://stores.ebay.com/kysurplus  We are the official Division of Surplus Property store for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
