Keep Your Shoes Organized with These Tips

Closet organization is a funny thing. Your closet is a finite amount of space, which inevitably gets more and more maxed out as you expand your wardrobe. Most people just cram more stuff into that small closet till finally they can fit no more.

The problem here is that over time, when you treat your closet like this, it creates a mess. That mess multiplies and suddenly you cannot find important elements of clothing. Eventually this issue grows to a point where a buried article of clothing becomes a dead article of clothing. Shoes are probably the greatest casualty of this battle. They are an accessory, and most nights we would rather just kick them off our feet and climb into bed than organize them. This problem is compounded when you have a wide array of shoes. The solution?

Create more space for your shoes!

Many devices are available that help you create space to get your shoes in order. One of the more useful tools is an over the door organizer . These items have sleeves that fit your shoes, and it hangs over your door for easy access and out of the way storage. You simply put each pair of shoes in an easy to reach sleeve, and they can stay there, out of your way until you need them. An underbed shoe organizer has similar benefits. This organizer efficiently stores your shoes under your bed, but slides out easily when you need them.  Both these solutions prevent you from creating clutter on the floor and shelves. They also helps keep your shoes all in the same place.

A solution for those who like to keep their shoes in their closet but have run out of floor space is a small shoe rack. Shoe racks, like the one in the below (left), utilize the floor space occupied by about 2 pairs of shoes to fit up to 9 pairs. This is a great solution for anyone who has just a few too many shoes.

For those who have more than a few shoes too many, the best solution is a larger shoe rack you can put right next to your closet rather than in it. Shoe towers like the one below (right) can accommodate those with even the largest of footwear collections. By building up instead of out the shoe tower can fit 50 pairs of shoes in the floor space used for 5 pairs.

Lets be realistic though. Your shoe buying addiction is probably not likely to end anytime soon. So don’t simply create an organization system for your current footwear. Plan for your future shoe purchases with an expandable shoe rack like the one below. This solution is also great for sorting your shoes based on category. How you categorize your footwear is up to you, but the most efficient systems to get your shoes in order tend to focus on either shoe color or type of shoe. Whatever your system, the key is to find a solution that removes excess clutter.

Organizing your shoes is a key to saving your closet space. Reorganizing can be a difficult task to begin and it is easy to procrastinate. However, it is important to begin this process, because it provides many benefits and can make your daily life much easier. Shoes are especially important to organize because it is common to have several pairs for different occasions. Proper organization can make these easy to find whenever they are needed.

An efficient closet space can have positive effects on the rest of your day, allowing you to go more smoothly through morning and evening routines. Once your shoes are arranged in an efficient manner, you can be well on your way to successful organization.
