Darn! The disease that first hit the knock-off mp4 player market has infected the USB jump drive and SD memory card markets. Somewhere in China, folks have figured out how to program the flash memory controller chips in these devices the REPORT a capacity bigger than they really are. You can format them, chkdsk them whatever.. they will report their listed (usually 4gb or 8gb) capacity.
So then try copying some nice handy 200meg avi files to them, to fill them up. Now try playing the files back. HAH! The last files copied in will play fine, but the first few will be useless! corrupt! unplayable. They aren't really there any more.
Try this: I found something called testdrive.exe at this site: http://www.schnapp.org/e-britain_ripoff/ He is on a mission to nab fake capacity MP4 players Lots of folks should mirror this file.
SO you've been burned! What to do now.. Go direct to PAYPAL and lodge a complaint.
Your seller sent you a fraudulent item, not a defective one!
INSIST THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO MAIL IT BACK TO HONG KONG/ CHINA FOR EXCHANGE OR REFUND. For one thing, all you might get back is the "purchase price" rather than the heavy shiipping fee. OR, like the PREVIOUS set of 2GB drives, The seller will just "never receive" the return and never answer again, (HI BEUTYZONES!)
DONT LET THEM STRING YOU OUT.. Lodge a dispute and eacalate in 10 days. Do not let the time limits slip by! If worse comes to worse you can offer to send it back AFTER a refund, and if THEY include $3-4 postage.. Remember.. its a fraud, not an error.. With persistance, after direct email offers for a 1/3 refund, I got a full refund!
ON the SLIM chance that the seller had been fooled too, I left NO FEEDBACK, good or bad.. SO.. next SD card, USB drive and or MP4 player.. even a brand name.. Trust but VERIFY!
