Inspirational Scripture Scrapbooking - Faithbooks

Inspirational Scripture Scrapbooking - Creating Faithbooks  View Inspirational Scrapbooking

The Bible commands us to remember what God has done in our lives - that’s what Faithbooking is.  It is incorporating your faith and how God is working in your life into your photo albums – mostly through journaling.  It’s giving God glory through your albums!

A Faithbook is a collection of pictures and stories that demonstrate how alive and active God is in our past, our present and our future.

Some benefits of creating Faithbooks:

Increase our faith – Every time we look back and remember times when the Lord sustained us through a difficulty or provided for our needs, our faith in Him grows.  As written in Isaiah 46:9, “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me”.

Demonstrate obedience – God urged parents to pass their history down to their children.  As written in Psalm 78:4, “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power and the wonders He has done”.

Glorify God – A Faithbook photo album can take daily special events and find the Lord’s fingerprints (His influence) in the activities. As written in Deuteronomy 6:5,  “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength”.

Developing a grateful attitude in your life - As written in Deuteronomy 4:9,“Be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen, or let them slip from your heart as long as you live”.

Encouraging ourselves and others – As written in Psalm 102:18, “This will be written for the generation to come, that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord”.

Reinforcing our family values and beliefs – As written in Isaiah 54:13, “And all your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children”.

You can complete theme albums or you can just apply Faithbook concepts to your traditional family albums by creating faith pages. We are so blessed to have God’s Word in our lives. When Scripture is written in our albums, it automatically brings the fingerprints of God to any page.

Ask yourself, “How can these pictures glorify God?  Chronological events keep it simple and user-friendly – the Faithbooking methods keep the focus on the Lord.

The other option is to choose one of the following types of specific Faithbooks. These albums are based more on a theme or one event.

Themed or single event Faithbook Album options:

ABC Scripture Album - an easy way to begin creating Faithbooks.   In this album, using the letters of the alphabet as a guide you can choose favorite Scriptures that are meaningful to you.  Starting with the letter A on the first page, find a Scripture with a word that begins with A.  Once you have selected your Scripture verse, you will then find a picture that compliments that verse.  The final step is to write a story that came to mind when you chose that picture and verse.

Gifts From God or Joy Album - this album is an on-going record of the gifts God blesses us with – the way He continues to work in our lives – the Scripture He speaks to us. Songs can also be used in this album.  As written in James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows”.

Spiritual Family History Album - Some people know many stories and details about the lifestyle of their ancestors, but have you ever longed to know their spiritual stories?   How did God make Himself real in their everyday life?  Other interesting potential stories are: 1) someone’s personal testimony…how they came to know the Lord as their Savior, 2) how they met their spouse and any details of their decision to marry and 3) any major sign posts in their life and how they saw the Lord at work around them.

The possibilities are endless… When we take time to record our memories, we truly give ourselves a gift to be opened over and over again. We can recall times of laughter, be encouraged by God’s faithfulness in difficult situations, and feel a sense of comfort. It feels good to revisit the joys and even the struggles in our lives, because God is working in us and building our trust through every circumstance.
