HTPC + HDMI, Windows 7 freezes after Completing Installation
Install windows7 on HTPC with HDMI to TV,no matter what I tried the installation always failed about one minute after the ‘Completing Installation’ phase started. There was no hint of what was causing the problem – the monitor screens suddenly went black and I have to reboot the syste, then I got
boot from CD, then freezes
Installation finally succeeded after I use VGA cable to replace HDMI cable. After the installation successfully completed using only the VGA monitor, hot-plugging the HP monitor to the HDMI port brought the HP to life and Windows automatically set the correct resolution.
This issue is apparently unique to Win 7 because I have not experienced installation issues with XP and vista regardless of monitor configuration.
So the solution is you need a VGA cable.
=====
It worked! Unplugged HDMI and DVI. Used an old VGA Cable for my TFT and it all worked. Windows installs the nVidia driver right after you log in the first time. After that HDMI and DVI work.
