Well, it's the new TV season !
Ok, so I'm watching the Detroit Tigers self destruct a great season, and about the time they go down 4 to zip I start surfing the widescreen for something else to fill the hours with. There is an entire entertainment world beyond sports, that I never really checked into before. I gotta share a couple of things with those of you who may not have discovered this yet!
There is a new weekly "reality" show on called "Dancing With the Stars" that was very entertaining. They have a bunch of C and D listers on and they are coupled with world-class ballroom dancers in a competition to decide which of these "stars" is the best dancer. I guess last year they had Jerry Rice, the former all-star wide receiver in the NFL, and a bunch of entertainment people on. I think the hook is that they team these people up with some real "hotties" from the ballroom dancing circuit. Each week they learn a new dance and are then judged by a panel of "experts", and then one of them is eliminated, until they have a winner. I guess it's an ego boost for the celebrity who isn't gettin' the attention any more. Last seasons winner was a wrestling promoter named Stacy Keebler, who is a minor siren of sorts.
This years NFL connection is Emmit Smith, the former record setting and future Hall of Famer from the Dallas Cowboys. Unlike the shaky Jerry Rice, Emmit can really move. This guy has talent, and his partner is hot enough to melt glass! Then there is Jerry Springer, who couldn't drive across the dance floor in a Rolls Royce and look classy. Tucker Carlson, the bow tie sporting politico was the first one voted off. That guy didn't just have two left feet, they were planted in cement to boot! Those of you who like the young Latino stud type ( and I hope I'm speaking to the ladies here ) Mario Lopez and his partner are just about volcanic!
Well, now that I've risked my tough-guy rating, I just wanna say that this is probably how I will be spending my Wednesday evenings this fall and I think you should check it out. If this has been interesting to you, please leave a yes vote.
