How to date a Bulova Vintage or Antique Watch

I sell mainly Vintage Bulova Watches on my eBay site and I love it because I can always tell the year of an old Bulova watch all the way back to the 1920's. Since 1950, Bulova has used simple date codes on the back of each case using one letter and one number. L=1950, M=1960, N=1970, P=1980, T=1990, A=2000. The number that follows is the year of that decade i.e. L7=1957.
Before 1950 Bulova used symbols such as stars, crests and triangles and they were not always on the back of the case. Sometimes they were stamped on the movement itself.
It can be a little confusing because the symbols are so small but this chart gives a general indication of the year from 1924 to 1940.
