Not all Shellac UV Lamps are the same. First, to cure shellac you need at least at 36 watt UV Lamp. Pay a little extra for a lamp with built-in timer because curing your nails with the correct amount of time could mean the difference between beautiful shinny nails and dull tacky nails. Buy UV Lamps that have bulbs positioned to each side of the hand. Some UV Lamps only have lamps positioned above the hand and none to the sides of the hand. Lamps with bulbs on top could sometimes not cure the side curves of the nail bed because UV Light cannot shine directly to the sides of the nails. Having bulbs positioned to the sides of the hand allows UV light to more directly shine on the sides of the nail bed and thus produce better curing of Shellac and Gels for better shiney nails. You get what you pay for in UV Lamps. The cheaper lamps have small power supplies. Imagine power supplies as the engine that drives the bulbs. If the power supply (engine) is weak then the bulbs don't produce the optimum amount of UV light and thus don't provide as good curing compared to a more powerful power supply. A more powerful power supply (engine) will drive the bulbs to produce more UV Light and thus provide more luscious shiney nails. In addition, a more robust power supply will improve longevity of bulbs. CND makes the best UV Lamp on the market. I have compared dozens of brands and CND by far has the best power supply.
