We all have heard how "when a deal sounds too good to be true, IT PROBABLY IS!" The reason for this buying guide is because of some concerns I have been seeing again on ebay recently. In light of the numerous cell phone scams that are out on eBay currently, I have written this guide so that I can actively educate my customers and other eBayers. These scams have been reeking havoc and have been causing eBayers to not trust other honest eBay sellers. So that's why we are here to write a guide to minimize the chances of being scammed in all categories of merchandise on eBay.
Before buying from a seller; you should:
1. check the feedbacks which the seller have received.
*if the seller have 10 negative feedbacks in the last two days that should be a "red flag" not to buy.
2. make sure you review as to where these feedbacks are given by even if the seller has positive feedbacks
*if the 10 positive feedback are given by questionable buyers from a questionable country; once again
be cautious!
3. check what other items were sold from the seller.
*if the seller have listed only one expensive item or have been selling hockey cards for the last while but
starts selling expensive products then caution should be taken.
4. make sure that PayPal is offered and use PayPal!!
*if the seller does not send you the product or the product is not as described then eBay/PayPal will be
able to credit you back the full amount. If you don't pay through PayPal then you buy at your own risk!
5. ensure when you are communicating with the seller within eBay!
*this can not be overlooked: if you communicate via eBay then you can ensure that you are communicating to
the real seller; however if you email outside of eBay then a buyer runs the risk of dealing with a person who
has 'hacked' or 'overtaken' the account.
These are the basic but top ways to ensure yourself from being a victim of fraud. If you have any additional suggestion that will help out other eBayers please feel free to share by emailing us or commenting on our blog.
Also, if you find this Guide useful to you please take two seconds to click on the "YES" shown below. The more this article gets voted on the more others will be helped in avoiding from being a victim of FRAUD! Please help.
