I've got Kidney Stones and these are not the little gems you'd want to keep! I developed Kidney Stones about 20 years ago and they pop out of me every month. I know there are many Kidney Stone sufferer's out there - who know - just how painful these buggers can be.
Yes, you could say that passing a Kidney Stone is about as close to giving birth, as the male species could experience in understanding why many women will scream "Get me MY epidural NOW!" during birthing. Now, imagine giving birth to a "stone". Not a very pretty picture when you consider that the stone has traveled from your kidney, pushed through the ureter, rolled its way into your bladder and then has to go from your bladder through "you know what" to come to it's final resting place.
Now, there are all types of Kidney stones (shapes and sizes). Sometimes, the really big ones come out looking like a gem (it's true!) other times, they can be shaped round but, have one feature that just stands out - spikes! (yikes!). Those spikey little devils are about as bad as they come.
However, no one seems to have a clear cut answer as to why some people produce these puppies like there's no tomorrow. The doctors will tell you to bring them in and have them analyzed however, what you find out is that they're formed by calcium or whatever the chemical compound flavor of the day happens to be!
I've tried everything (here's my short list)...
- Drinking so much water that I've developed a hump on my back.
- Stopped eating cheese.
- Stopped drinking milk.
- Stopped using salt.
- Stopped eating chocolate.
- Stopped drinking tea.
- Stopped drinking coffee.
- Stopped drinking soda.
Okay, one would think that I have replaced all the bad stuff with good - clean, crisp, clear, bottled water. But noooooooo, they still keep forming, they still make their trip through all the parts of my body that I would rather they did not!
Solution....
Now, this would not be a very worthwhile guide if I did NOT share a very useful solution to the problem.
BEER! Yes, I said BEER!
Any brand will do! Pick your favorite and have one beer a day to rid yourself of Kidney stones. This is NOT a joke! I found out that the HOPS in beer actually help one pass Kidney stones. No doubt, if you have more than one beer, it dulls the pain of the stone passing as well:-)
I started this treatment last month and have been stone free! Yes, I passed stones initially upon starting the regimen but, it does work for me and may work for you!
Now, if you have Kidney stones and are an avid beer drinker, than you have (no doubt) developed a tolerance and this regimen may not work well for you:-)
Don't expect to see a study in the New England Journal of Medicine on this one (however, I doubt they would have trouble finding volunteers for a study:-)
