FAQ
Why should I buy Noir Hair Extensions and not somewhere else?
Noir Hair Extensions offers the best quality of hair for each hair type we sell. We have searched and audited many hair manufacturers and factories around the world in search of the best hair quality in the market and built relationships with these suppliers to negotiate the best possible price for our clients as well as ensure consistent products. If you buy from Noir Hair Extensions, you will know that you are getting exactly what is labeled on our package.
What is the definition of 100% Human Hair?
100% human hair is truly just that. It is hair that has been harvested only from humans and does not contain any synthetic blend. 100% human hair is usually available in a large assortment of colors due its large popularity and price range.
What is the definition of Virgin Human Hair?
Virgin hair is hair that has never been chemically altered with dyes, relaxers, perms, or any other treatments. Virgin hair only comes in a few shades since the majority of hair on the market comes from countries like Brazil, Asia, and India, all of whom have a population of dark shades of hair. Very rarely will you find Virgin hair that is truly blond or red, as the countries where this hair would be harvested (US and Europe) does not have a large donor market. The process of washing and packaging the hair to ensure it’s cleanliness and readiness to sell does not “de-virginize” the hair.
What is the definition of Remy Hair?
Remy hair is widely considered to be the highest quality of human hair used for extensions and weaves. Remy hair is hair that has been harvested with cuticle layer intact and the roots aligned and bound together at the top of the bundle, allowing for the hair to flow in the same downward direction, the way it would occur naturally before being cut. The cuticle layer is critically important when it comes to hair tangling, longevity, volume, and luminosity. When the cuticle layer is intact and lying flat, the hair is capable of reflecting light, which allows it to shine. Whether the hair has been colored or chemically processed does not influence the definition of Remy. The harvesting process for Remy hair is a meticulous one, which is why Remy is considered the one of the most expensive qualities of hair on the market.
What is a weft and wefted hair?
Wefts serve the purpose of a binding matrix for the hair. There are numerous wefts, but they all function by locking loose hair into a matrix that can be sewn or glued onto the scalp. There are two primary forms of wefts related to hair extensions. Hand tied wefts and machine tied wefts. Noir Hair extensions sells only machine tied wefts for the durability as well as easy ability to be cut to fit each individual's scalp.
Can wefts be cut?
Noir Hair Extensions suggests that you do not cut the weft at home but take it to an experienced stylist who can cut and bond the cut edge with a proper bonding agent to prevent shedding. We also recommend having an experienced stylist cut and sew your wefts in.
How much hair will I need?
The industry standard for hair extensions is 4 oz. per bundle. This amount doesn’t change when you order longer hair, therefore the longer the hair, the less you will have to work with in regards to width. Noir Hair Extensions range from 3.5 oz. to 5 oz. per bundle.
How much you buy depends on how thick you want your hair. For a natural look with 14”-16” extensions, 2.5 packs of hair will be enough for a full head weave. But if you want a little more thickness or if you know your scalp area is larger than normal, we suggest purchasing a additional pack, of which you will only use a portion, however, it is helpful to keep when going back to the stylist for regular maintenance. If you are ordering our shortest length of 12”, then 1 bundle may be enough to complete the weave. We always recommend two bundles, both to ensure a complete weave and if there is left over, to be used for future maintenance.
Can the hair be colored?
Virgin hair can be colored, but we do not recommend coloring our pre-colored human hair that is #2 or higher as it has already been processed. Double processing the hair will lead to premature shedding and dryness. We always suggest ordering our virgin or remy hair that comes in natural colors and allowing your stylist to custom color your hair. This way a test strand can be done and you will know what you are getting while you are implementing your new style.
Why does the Virgin Hair only say “Natural” and not a specific color? Because the virgin hair is completely natural and has not been chemically treated, which includes coloring. The color will range from off-black to dark or medium brown.
Can the curly hair be straitened?
Yes, all of our curly hair can be straitened with a flat iron or stylist blow out. Keep in mind that with natural curly or processed hair, once the hair becomes wet, it will go back to its natural curly state. If you prefer to wear strait hair, we recommend you purchase our strait hair extensions.
How long does the hair last?
Noir Hair Extensions hair can last up to 12 months assuming it is well installed and maintained. Maintenance also means visiting your stylist for periodic adjustments. The hair can be removed and reinstalled so long as your stylist exercises care and patience during the removal process. If you wear the weave full-time, we recommend buying new hair after 6 months. While we have general suggestions, how often you buy new hair is entirely up to you and your budget. We have clients that weave our hair in for special occasions, have it removed shortly after and then re-use again throughout the year. We also have clients that prefer a style change every few months and buy new hair often. The one thing we do strongly recommend is the proper and regular maintenance of the hair by both you and your stylist to ensure its longevity.
Is there anything I need to know about the hair?
It is important to know that there are variations in the texture of all hair. Because we only sell human hair, whether it is virgin or remy, or just human hair quality, the hair is gently washed with low intensity shampoos and air dried before shipment. As such you may notice some variance in the lengths at the end as well as some static buildup from shipping. The length variance should only be within a 10% margin (very precise). With regards to any static build up or atypical curl patterns, once you wash your new hair with a quality moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, youw ill see the radiance of the hair. We suggest you use a protein enriched shampoo for your first washing.
