Gents, Get the Girl of Your Dreams to the Prom

If you are one of those guys that has been watching a special lady for months or maybe even years wanting to invite her to something special but when you walk up to her you find yourself saying a quick "Hello" and walking on or when you try to speak with her your mouth turns to jelly and the words just won't come out then this guide is for you.

The first thing to remember is there are many special ladies out there for you.  For every lady that may say "no" there are 10 that will say "yes"! Now we just have to figure out who and what.

Find a lady who is a great friend.  One who you can talk to and laugh with that makes you feel comfortable to be around. Friendship lasts forever and can get you through a lot of bumps in the road.

Once you have zeroed in on who you think might be the one then find out what she likes.  Ask her about her favorite things. I always recommend trying to get to know someone a little before making big decisions such as prom dates. Sometimes we just don't click once we get to know someone even though we thought they were the absolute one.

Okay, you have done your homework, been able to get to know her a little and are determined this is the one for that special prom date. How do you ask her?

Get creative!  If you really want her to remember you find a way that will just sweep her off her feet. Maybe a special gift about something special you have in common with a little note in it asking her to accompany you. If you are artistic draw her a picture.  If you are a musician write her a song. I know this may sound corny but for us girls these are unforgettable moments that we love. Why else would we expect you to get down on a knee to propose marriage?  Now, don't get nervous because we are just asking for a date here! Another suggestion would be to find a time when you could go by her house and drop her a single rose with the invitation written on the note card.  All of these fun things sweep us off our feet and how can we say no when we know that you have gone to such great lengths just for us?  That makes you very special in our eyes.

Okay, you have done your homework, mustered up the courage and creativity to ask her, now make it even more special for both of you.

Most guys don't get into the preparation much but now is the time to get more involved. Ask her what color gown she is wearing and get flowers ordered for her to compliment her dress. If you don't have a clue ask your mom or a friend or your local florist to help with this task.  Tell her what you are thinking of wearing and ask her opinion.  She may have some great ideas that will save you a lot of time trying to figure it out.  Make special plans to take her to dinner before the prom to a special restaurant that you both like.  Then off to the prom.  Don't forget to open the doors for her and offer her your arm to escort her.  I know that we are liberated but this is always impressive especially for a night such as this. 

Congratulations!  You are now ready to brave the world for this all important event.  You will be successful and you will have the time of your life if you believe in yourself and just follow a few of the suggestions that you think will work for you.
