Most fake AudioQuest cables mostly come from China, but recently at lot of sellers in USA and Canada are also selling fake AudioQuest speaker wires too. Some people in the United States realized they purchased fake cables and are trying to resale their replicas to get their money back.
Although the product is made and assembled in China, there are ways to avoid buying fake Audioquest speaker cables.
Fake interconnect wires now include:
- Sky (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- Niagara (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- Colorado (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- Columbia (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- Jaguar (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- Panther (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- Cheetah (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- King Cobra (some not all), (1st gen. are ok)
- Diamondback (some not all), (1st gen. are ok)
- Copperhead (some not all), (1st gen. are ok)
- Sidewinder (some not all), (1st gen. are ok)
Fake speaker wires now include:
- Meteor (all 72v DBS packs)
- Gibraltar (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- Rockefeller (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- CV-8 (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- Type 8
- CV-4 / CV-4.2 (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok)
- Type 4
- Some older verisons like CV-6, etc.
Fake AC power cables now include:
- NRG-5
- NRG-10
Fake DBS packs (just light up) (all 48v DBS packs and up) (36v DBS under are ok) (Audioquest just changed their design to combat the problem)
Fake connector ends (Audioquest just changed their design to combat the problem)
So how do you know if the cable is real or not?
- Sky interconnects MSRP for 1m is $2600, would you sell yours for $200 bucks? (dealer cost is $1040 for a pair! I have dealer book)
- NEW but no retail box??? Goto any authorized dealers and you will see ALL AudioQuest are in retail boxes. (unless they are store demos, but thats not consider new)
- New ebay member with zero or very few feedbacks.
- New ebay members with names that dont make sense. (eg. yvs3834)
- Never judge by the stock photo, always ask for different angle shots. (Some sellers do have a real one to show pictures with, but then sells you the replicas)
- Take a real Audioquest and compare with the one you just purchased. (easiest way)
