Been with eBay 14 years. Started selling recently and got a top rated badge. Beginning of the year someone put negative feedback saying the wrong item was sent. It hadn't been and had proof. Told eBay it was a lie, they said it was an 'opinion' and they took top rated away. 2 days before clearing someone did similiar, saying an item was not new. Have the receipt. Admitting they didn't use eBay and didn't know how to do it, also said they never wanted it but it was sold as a set (never asking to buy separate). Again, eBay didn't care, took top rated away again- and encouraged to do better. And was congratulated by eBay for the 14 year anniversary. Same week.
Neither of them used eBay. Both refused to return their items. It used to be one could filter those with no feedback-who don't use eBay. Now there's no choice. If they don't know what they're doing they can blame the seller-and disappear.
But eBay has put in a new filter. With eBay calling lies 'opinions' and using them to rank, they have put on the pages a filter to filter out not top rated. 2 people out of 100-that's all it takes, and one can be filtered off eBay-by eBay themselves. Is this legal? If so, is it in fact sellers are really working for eBay, without realizing it.
If you find a way to stop someone from rating low unjustly-or find a way to constantly coerce good feedback, and ratings, without aggravating the buyer-then you're a top seller. You'll be safe.
Don't get in too deep. It may be okay in the beginning, but realize they can filter you right off the site-they can fire you at any moment. While telling you to do better.
