Okay...First I will say that I'm not an Ebay Professional, nor am I a Power Seller. I'm an average citizen in society who knows the value of the dollar and I look for good deals. I personally view Ebay as a place where I can purchase certain items that are hard to find. And after scrolling through many pages, I began to notice a practice that stumps me. The shipping and handling. It is amazing how another human being can take advantage of another human being without second thought. I guess if you can't see the bidders face, then padding the shipping is left guilt free. I took the time recently to send a very short question to a power seller as to why their shipping was so high. The response, "When you have a little more experience of what E-bay is all about then maybe you can spend your time a little more productively than bothering a power seller with ridiculous questions. People pay for service, reputation and trustworthiness. " Do we really? Actually, this response wasn't professional at all and the shipping on the item was still high. Why do we allow high shipping charges to continue on Ebay? Target, Walmart and other fine retailers do not charge such high shipping on the same products sold on Ebay, so why do we allow it? Could it be that we get wrapped up in the bidding and the shipping charge only hits us after we have won? I've read many feedbacks where this has happened. Or, could the high shipping actually be the cost to cover the item and if you dare return the item, it's no skin off the sellers nose. Here is how you as the Ebay consumer can conquer the high shipping. It has been my research that all brand items are always repeatedly sold. If you find your item and the shipping is high, then wait until another item comes in with a lower shipping. Example: Tamagotchi - The PowerSellers are selling them like hotcakes. They are an abundance of them at different prices and different shipping fees. Look at many and compare the price and shipping. The Ebay consumer is better off purchasing an item with a low shipping. Why? Because if you return the $5.00 item, the seller gives you your $5.00, but you don't get your $12.00 shipping fee. (I recently looked into purchasing an item on Ebay and made the appropriate contact with the seller. I was told that if I didn't want the item to be broken, then I had to pay extra shipping charges- with no return of the charges if I returned the item.) I was astonished by this PowerSeller! It would be better to have that idea turned around, don't you? How hard do you work for your money? Sadly, there is very little that Ebay will do to keep the shipping fees down. Until the government steps in to regulate the shipping charges that are being tagged to each item, you as the consumer must be wise and beat some of the sellers at their own game. Bottom line: Don't be quick to purchase an item especially if you can get it way cheaper in a week or so. Sooner or later, the sellers will understand that we are consumers just as they are and we want fairness. Shop wisely.
