Dooney & Bourke make some of the most wonderful leather you ever saw. They use a vegetable dye and stake it out to dry naturally. The drying process leaves a thick pebbly leather that lasts for years. Every vintage wallet has this embossed logo inside. Every one, not just a few. They only use this logo and no other. They never put serial numbers in wallet.
Counterfeit's items are made with a vinyl coating that gives the pebbly finish. Dooney always makes things the same way. They start seams in the same place and always end in the same place. If you see a wallet and the seams cross over each other that wallet is fake. They are very detail oriented.
Every AWL wallet has this logo inside.
