This guide will focus on comparing apple iphone and two major Apple iphone substitutes namely CECT P168 iFoe and CECT Hiphones.
Both iFoe and Hiphones are produced by a China brand called CECT. The functionalities of these two phones are very similar to that of Apple Iphone. However, there are some major differences of which this guide will compare them in detail.
iFoe v. Apple Iphone
CECT P168 was first created as a PDA smart phone with a touch screen. It has many of the Apple iphone functionality such as PDA notebook, touch screen phone panel, mp3 and mp4 player functionality. But on top of that P168 also imported a revolutionary technology called Dual Sim which was absent in Apple Iphone.
A Dual SIM phone, such as a P168, has two slots for SIM cards so that you can put two SIM cards into the phone and switch between the two by changing the phone setting. In another word, if you have two SIM cards in the phone, and SIM1 is currently active; people who call the number on SIM2 won't be able to reach you until you have switched to SIM2 in the phone setting and vice versa.
However, unlike Apple Iphone, CECT P168 was a triband (800/ 900/ 1800 MHz) cell phone. Also the system was not very stable and the user interface was different than that of Apple Iphone. Because of these short-comings, the p168+ was developed. P168+ was a quadband (800/ 900/ 1800/ 1900 MHz) cell phone with much improved system stability and a user interface closely resemble to that of Apple Iphone. CECT P168+ 2nd takes a step further. HiPhone v. Apple Iphone & iFOE
CECT Hiphones such as A88 i32 hiphone, F1 i32 hiphone, N88 hiphone are created as Iphone clones. As compared to iFoe, Hiphones have a much lower system stability and the system tends to freeze from time to time. Also unlike iFoe and Apple iphone, a Hiphone is a triband phone. Also unlike Apple Iphone and iFoe which runs under an Linux operating system, most Hiphone varieties runs under a graphic user interface (GUI) and as a result the system is less stable.
However, there are some features of Apple Iphone that are still unique such as GPS feature and iTune support. Also speaker phone feature is absent in most iPhone clones and iPhone substitute.
On the other hand, HiPhones, iFOE had a built-in MicroSD card reader which allow switching between different memory cards and inputting memory cards of different capacity. While such feature is absent in Apple iPhone. Also iPhone does not have a removable battery pack as well. What it mean is that if you have an Apple iPhone 3G w/ 8GB built in memory, that's all you got, while for a HiPhone or iFOE you can switch between different MicroSD memory card becuase of the built-in card reader. Also for a phone such as HiPhone or iFOE, you can very easily exchange the battery meaning that you can have a spare backup battery allowing talking for a long time without charging, while for an Apple iPhone you will not be able to exchange the battery without cracking the phone open and void your manufacturer warranty.
Which Phone Wins the Competition?
Overall, a P168+ 2nd is the best choice. It is a well-built PDA smart phone with the highest stability and overall performance compared to Hiphone variations or older version of iFoe. Also unlike Hiphones (which are all tri-bands), P168+ iFoe is a quad band phone. Pricewise, the cost of an iFoe is about 1/3 that of an Apple Iphone. More importantly, P168+ 2nd has dual active sim capacity which allows it to have two active phone numbers at the same time. This revolutionarily design is absent in Apple Iphone and Hiphone variations. Also now the P168+ latest editon has java 2.0 enabled, meaning that you can use it to load many games and applications that closely mimic the user interface to that of Apple iPhone.
