Let me see if I can address all the questions.
"Do these headlights have both low & high beams or just low beam?" The HID's we supply have the HIDs on the low beam side only. The hi beam is a conventional halogen bulb. All our shop trucks and personnel cars are equipped with the same type bulbs. We rarely use the hi beam.
"Do these headlights produce a lot of glare?" Any good quality HID should produce the whitest, clearest light possible. The HIDs are not a glare producer...the head lamp it self would be the culprit. I set up two test vehicles to use these two components. Over two years on the road, in Ohio, with no issues. In fact the number of trucks using these same light combination is increasing about 1 per month in that area alone.
"Do they have a clean cut off line like the projector type of lights found on new cars?" No. Projector lights use a prism type of lens to enhance a typical halogen bulb. This is why one sees the multi colored lights when the vehicle is on coming in traffic. HID's on the other hand, are dependent on the reflective capability of the light housing. The CRYSTAL lights are designed to put the maximum light where it is needed. This is accomplished using its prisms in the back of the lamp to defuse light.
"What color of hid lights do they come with?" While we can supply any temp and color of light, we play it safe and use 6000k white. We can supply the purple and blue, but all you will do is attract the DOTs attention. This usually is not good.
The LED DRL"s are cool and are used in some of the tactical vehicles here in Florida. They are required to be amber by law.
Just a reminder. At present there are no DOT legal aftermarket HID kits available. All are labeled for off road use only. However, it is just a matter of time before NTHSA and the DOT recognize the benefits of using a light such as these. The being said, is why we offer only the white HIDs and not the blue and purple ones. Going across the scales with purple lights is not a good thing and will result in at least a level 3 inspection.
Thank you and drive safe.
